Now for the Latest news …

** BRADENTON BEACH – Island Time Bar & Grill and the Bridge Street Bistro have new owners.

On Friday, Oct. 13, co-owners Bill Herlihy and John Hardesty closed the sale of their restaurant businesses to Steve Bishop and Ron Fuller, who own Surf Shack Coastal Kitchen in St. Armands Circle and Tampa.

Bishop and Fuller will continue to lease the building from property owner Angela Rodocker. According to Herlihy, the staff, including General Manager Kit Bradman, will be retained and business will continue as usual for the foreseeable future.

Herlihy and Hardesty bought Bridge Street Bistro on Jan. 31, 2011, and opened Island Time later that year on July 4. After 38 years, Herlihy will take a break from the restaurant business, but he and Hardesty still own and operate the Island Time Inn across the street; and Herlihy and his fiancée Cheryl Douma plan to get married in the coming year.

“I’ll be able to relax and go fishing now that I don’t have a three-story restaurant to run. I can watch my little hotel and enjoy the Island myself,” Herlihy said on Saturday.

“The city and the police department have been great to work with. I want to thank Barbara and Angela Rodocker for the opportunity, and thanks to all our customers for making us a huge success. I’m sure Ron and Steve will continue that success, and I wish them all the best.”

** Retrieved Anna Maria Island Sun 10/17/2017

We congratulate the new owners and wish them good luck with their venture.

We can’t wait for our next visit!

Where to stay on Anna Maria Island – Guest reviews – Thank You Kain Family!

Perfect location and an outstanding rental unit!601 Gulf Drive North, Bradenton Beach, FL, 34217, United States
Date of Stay
Apr 28, 2017

If you’re searching for the perfect location on Anna Maria Island, and you also want a rental unit that is clean and well stocked, look no further. We loved the gorgeous views from the master bedroom and family room. The screened in porch was a bonus, as well. It is literally just a few steps away.

This particular spot on the beach is not crowded, and it’s simply beautiful. We watched a pod of dolphins swimming at sunset on our first night. Right next door, you will find the Wicked Cantina, where we enjoyed some delicious margaritas and fish tacos. It is an easy drive to Publix, dining options, little shops, piers, etc.

Terry is very easy to work with, highly responsive and has really updated the unit with tasteful furnishings and decor. The master bed is super comfy, and we had plenty of towels, beach towels, beach gear, etc. The pool is also very close to the unit, and it is well kept and the perfect size. I would definitely recommend the Beach Sands unit to anyone wanting a relaxing get away in a great location. Thanks for sharing your condo, Terry!

Where To Eat And Drink On Anna Maria Island – Recommended restaurants – Dining Out On Anna Maria Island

10/13/2017

DINING OUT? A few Restaurants we recommend you try ….

Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus ~ 3246 East Bay Drive, Holmes Beach

A little taste of Germany in the tropics even if eating schnitzel is not the first thing that comes to mind when in Florida. The Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus is a nice discovery.
An awesome place nestled in a strip mall, but don’t let the store front fool you.
The staff is warm, friendly and attentive and the owner Gary is very entertaining and gracious.
Having dinner here is always a treat. Their menu offers a good variety while serving very large portions. All their dishes are authentic German fare, homemade from Bavarian and Austrian recipes combined with a good selection of German draft beers and wine. We have ordered schnitzel, sauerbraten, as well as duck and everything was expertly prepared and well presented.
Definitely worth going and I would advise making reservations. They have lots of returning customers, including us.
This restaurant has it all: excellent service, excellent food and attention to detail.

EAT HERE ~ 5315 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach

We have eaten here multiple times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. The menu standbys are great comfort food; the daily specials take advantage of locally sourced foodstuffs. The chef artfully embraces multiple cuisine styles, resulting in some unexpected–but delightful–flavor fusions in the daily specials. There is something to enjoy for everyone. We have had the Red snapper, Mahi tacos, Veal meatloaf and all were fantastic.
Located in a small strip mall in Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island, the outside appearance in a store front is deceiving because you will find the inside ambience is very interesting and ecclectic. We have always had an enjoyable experience at Eat Here, the food and service is excellent – we highly recommend it!

The Feast ~ 5406 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach

Several years ago we discovered this dining venue and we frequent it often. Situated in a strip mall The Feast is a hidden gem. From the outside this restaurant looks small and nothing too exciting, but once inside you will be pleasantly surprised.
The décor of the restaurant is nice informal, classy but comfy.
The menu varies, but always includes several entrees of local seafood. Also a choice of excellent salads, the large version of which could be an entree. They also have steak, veal, hamburgers and great pizza. We have never had a disappointing meal here.. Our last visit, our party had coconut shrimp and mussels. Everything was delicious! The portions are generous and their service–excellent!
This is one of our favourite eateries on Anna Maria Island. For sure one of the better restaurants on Anna Maria Island for quality, quantity and price. Definitely a must visit!
